Google maps keeps force closing even when its not open

i have a motorola droid, about every 30 minutes or so when i unlock it an error comes up saying google maps has malfuntioned and has to force close. So i uninstalled it, but the error keeps coming up?

any suggestions?

you can't uninstall it. it's an app that comes with the phone. if you installed it from the marketplace, you've performed an update to your app (which was smart). chances are there's something on the SD card the app doesn't like. try this:

home - menu - settings - applications - manage applications - menu - filter - all

then find google maps and hit clear cache/data (whatever button(s) enabled)

also, have you tried rebooting?

i did both, and it hasnt done it since! idk if it was the clear data thing or the reboot. either way it worked
