Google maps

I have A Motorola Droid running 2.2.1 with Verizon. It keeps trying to update Google Maps and everytime (maybe 15-20 times) it says downloaded but then the "install" part of it fails. I am still able to use Navi on it but hope that it will be accurate. I will be traveling tomorrow and will be depending on it. Any ideas on why this is happening and how to fix the issue. Thought of maybe uninstalling Google Maps then going to the market and installing from there but afraid to totally mess it up when I will be needing it. Thank you.

I would try to remove it and reinstall it rom the market like you were thinking.
