google market wont update to google play

I have a Droid X2 running android 2.3.5 and today I decided to do a factory reset... everything went well, except google market wont update to google play! before I did the factory reset I had google play up and running. Now because of that I'm not getting app update notifications. Can anyone please help?

Go to settings. Google accounts. Go ahead and remove account. It'll ask if ur sure. Then sign in with same account. Select the things you want to sync and should ask to update.

That "new" version was installed in the background so it may install, (again), with a little patience.
