Google Music beta app and Lockscreen Controls?

Just got invited to the beta and download the app for it. Overall I prefer it over the stock music player, except that it lacks native lockscreen controls (can't skip or stop songs when phone is in lockscreen).

I know it's still beta and perhaps future versions will support Lockscreen controls...but in the meantime has anyone found a workaround, perhaps a 3rd party app or maybe by disabling/freezing the stock android player?

1. Are You Rooted if YES read #2 if not i don't know

2. Download Titanium Backup or Root Explorer from market (isn't free) or workaround to getting it

Titanium Backup: Go to Backup/Restore and Freeze Music 2.3.3 or 2.3.2
Root Explorer: Go To system/app rename music.apk to music.bak
