Google Search Widget Disappears when typing

Whenever I use the google widget and start typing something in, it disappears after a few seconds and goes back to the home page. This is now happening everytime I use it. Using the voice search works, but in a crowded environment, it's not always the best choice. Anyone else seeing this problem.

If this has been covered, I apologize. I searched but didn't come up with anything.

Have you deleted it and put it back on the homescreen?

Just tried and it does the same thing. I'm typing something in the search box and it just goes away and back to the home screen. Happens with both the physical keyboard and virtual.

Without typing, it consistenly disappears after about 8 seconds or so from the time the widget is touched. If I'm typing, the time is random. It's especially frustrating when you have a long query.
