Ex-Facebook Exec Backs 'Google Me' Social Network Rumors | News & Opinion | PCMag.com

Back in 2004, the company launched Orkut. The site gained a good deal of popularity in India and Brazil (where it is now located), but failed to offer much competition to sites like Facebook and MySpace in other countries, including the U.S. More recently, Google launched Buzz, a Twitter-like site integrated directly into Gmail. That property has generated a good deal of negative press since its inception.
Rumor has it that the company is gearing up for another big push in the space, less than five months after the public launch of Buzz. According to Inside Facebook, three days ago, Digg founder Kevin Rose tweeted, "Ok, umm, huge rumor: Google to launch facebook competitor very soon 'Google Me,' very credible source." That tweet has since disappeared.

why doesn't google just go about this as they do every other venture?

they see a company or business plan they like and just buy them out.....

Maybe they've tried to buy out FB and so far have not come to an agreement?

this is a good possibility or the fact that Facebook wants too much money.

i mean they paid 1.65 billion for YouTube i'm sure they could give Facebook a good 10 thousand dollars and call it a deal.

maybe that is why the fb android apparently sucks so bad
