Google voice for mms?

I understand texting with Google Voice is free? Is that just for sms, or can you send/receive media, as well, for free?

P.s. does anyone know why this is free?

Google voice doesn't do MMS. Not yet anyways.

You can txt. You just can't MMS.

Ok, thanks. So, if you wanted to send/receive mms, you'd need to use Verizon number, I guess. Not sure if my family would be willing to use two different numbers.
