Google voice help

Two things first of all when I call from my home phone it asked for the number im trying to call I have to put it in. The problem with that is most people dont know my number they just speed dial. Second of all cant really figure out how to do personal greetings. I used my personal number should I of used a google number? I just didn't want people to have to learn a new number

Also I'm not receiving them, if i leave one I don't get any notification.
