Google Voice Inbox Widget made Official

One of the most talked about features on the upcoming T-Mobile G2 phone were the new Google Voice widgets. These widgets were extracted and leaked a few weeks ago across the web. Today Google has officially released the Google Voice Inbox app into the Android Market!

The Google Voice Inbox widget brings your most recent voicemails and text messages to your home screen. With the widget, you can now quickly flip through messages in your Inbox, and if you choose to select a message preview, it will open in the Google Voice app.

Here's a quick look at the new features:

• Get instant access to the full Google Voice app by clicking the Google Voice icon.
• Quickly compose and send free text messages.
• Change what calls to place via Google Voice on the fly. You can have your phone use Google Voice for all calls, or just some of them.
• Select Do Not Disturb and all calls to your Google number will be sent straight to Voicemail.

The widgets can be used together or individually, and are part of the new Google Voice app, available for download from Android Market today. To add the widgets to a home screen panel, press the menu button from the home screen and select “Add>Widgets>Google Voice Inbox or Google Voice Settings”. You will need a valid Google Voice account to use them, and Google Voice is available free to anyone in the US.

Google Maps is also updated to Version 4.5

It now has walking Navigation, modified search bar in the Maps and also smarter street view.

not showing up in market

this isn't showing up in the market for me...i did a search and also scanned the barcode...any suggestions? I'm on Droid X froyo.

no, and if i search for google voice the google app isn't listed...i also can't find maps, although i have 'em both installed. appbrain tells me there are updates for both of 'em

:shocked: This thread was made for DROID NEWS which is our front page. Not everyone that comes in here has it set to load Droid Applications first. Trust me...we search....and search.....and search.

Maybe its my OCD, but why would they choose a 3x1 widget? It throws off the whole balance.

I think the difference is your post was in regard to the apk from a system dump from a G2, and this post is an update to the app.

either way it was eventually coming as an official...and its not like admins dont post apps from system dumps
