Google's Mobile Phone Service Might Include Free International Roaming

Some new intel has come to light suggesting that Google has even bigger plans for their mobile smartphone service than they shared earlier this year. Supposedly, the Mountain View based mega-corp is in talks with other operators from around the world, and they plan to offer a “global network that will cost the same to use for calls, texts and data no matter where a customer is located.”

This basically translates into a cell phone service that would have free international roaming. If Google can make it happen, this would be a huge coup, and could put the company on a vast footing against its US competitors. Here's a quote with more of the details,

It is understood that Google aims to create a global network that will cost the same to use for calls, texts and data no matter where a customer is located. By linking up with Hutchison, it could gain wholesale access to mobile service in the UK, Ireland, Italy and several more countries where the Hong Kong conglomerate owns mobile networks.

Sources said Hutchison was a natural partner for Google in the plan, because it has also sought to eliminate roaming charges for Three customers.

Imagine signing up for Google cell phone service and being able to use it virtually anywhere on the planet! Exciting times!
