Got the Network Extender

For the 25 years I've lived in this house I've gotten almost no cellular reception and it doesn't matter who the provider was, they were all the same. I would lose calls just walking around the house. No reception in the basement. So during the 35% off sale last weekend I bought the Network Extender for $161. Hooked it up today and now I get 4-5 bars everywhere in the house including the basement.

Funny story, when I called tech help to register the MAC ID, 2 tech reps had no idea how to do it. They said I was the first person to ever call them to do this. Finally they figured it out and now I'm 5 bars!:icon_ banana:

I love my Network Extender....they are very nice. Glad you're having success with yours too.

Yes, I'm glad I got mine. BTW, if you dial #48 you'll get a voice saying, "You are under Network Extender coverage."

How do these things work? Can they travel with you? I go fishing down on the coast, here in Louisiana and the coverage at the motel is terrible. I also go fishing over at Lake Okeechobee in Florida and same thing. I have however not been to either of these places since getting my Droid on Verizon, so maybe it won't be an issue.

Thanks

You connect it to the Internet and set up the GPS antenna. I believe it's VoIP, only there is no subscription.

My sister had to get one of those for her place. (Concrete & Steal high-rise building) It works so nice. I used to never be able to get calls when I was visiting, now it's no problem.

The antenna is outside?

The extender has the GPS built in so you can stick the whole thing near a window. It also comes with 25' of wire you can unplug the GPS antenna and stick it near a window. I believe that's in case you call 911 and they need to know where you are.

I'm a good 25 feet from the window and the GPS still connected. I'm so happy after all these years of no reception. I can be anywhere in my house and get 4-5 bars. Data seems faster too, although I realize it's not 3G.
