Got the phone at 11AM, scratched screen by 4PM. Dissapointed

U know I've been hearing that for a while now and I always find it funny. So ur telling me there's a coating on there that u can scratch but its SO SO strong that u can't rub the coating off and get the scratch out???? Doesnt really make sense to me. I mean actually stop and let's thank about it. So I can accidentally scratch it with something random and no force applied but I've litterally seen my uncle take the end of his Kershaw knife and run it down his dead OG Droids screen and no scratch, not even in this "so called" coating. I'm not buying it, not picking a fight with u, I've heard this so much and don't believe it.
