i noticed while looking at a logcat that the gps coordinates are found when the gps itself is turned off. i didn't think that the wireless radio is able to grab gps coordinates unless i am mistaken.
Here's what i see in logcat (fudged the numbers with x's) and yes they are accurate to where i am sitting at.
