Hello just got my first DROID a few weeks ago. D2 Global from Verizon. I find this phone totally amazing so glad there was a alternative to the iPhone. Apple IMO is so overrated, all fluff, little substance.

Currently going a little app crazy, not sure if I cam going to root my phone however. Not finding a need ATM. Yes I'd like to remove the handful of pre-installed apps Verizon puts on it that you can't remove however from my research it seems if I root and disable, remove them from the app list my auto updates will fail. And I am waiting for the GB update so perhaps AFTER that update I will root.

Otherwise have a wide range of interests from PC gaming to Wicca to clubbing to history.

None the less look forward to getting to know you all.

Greetings. Rooting to freeze apps could save some battery. The apps are still there, so you will be able to get an ota when they are issued. The gb update might be a ways off depending on moto and vzw getting along for a release.

Freezing? Do I need to root my droid for that?

to remove or freeze bloatware is to root unfortunately. or u can hide them using something like Launcher Pro but it does not freeze it
