[GUIDE] Root your phone, from your phone.

When I tried to download the file ( visionaryplus.r14.apk ) my anti-virus software warned that it contained a virus and aborted the download. Any comments?

I believe the one click root tools set off anti virus programs because part of the process requires it to self replicate. You can probably just download it straight from the phone.

I just lost root due to changing my cell number. I previously had z4. For some reason temp root is not working. How long should I wait? Waiting longer than 5 minutes doesn't seem right. thx

I have found that z4 doesn't work if your phone has been up and running for a while. Along the same lines, I've found that if you reboot and immediately run z4 root after the phone is properly booted up, it works on the first try. Not sure why this is, but that's my trick.

first off you, want to do permanent root not temp. and then follow the previous advice about starting after a fresh reboot and also try putting it in airplane mode.

Ty spaz ^_^

And temp root does just what it says. It will temporarily root your phone till its rebooted. With my phone it asked me to run temp before it would allow me to use perm root.

There is also an option to run temp root at every boot. But I personally don't see the need as people looking to root there phones generally want to keep root and not re root at every boot

I do have a question kinda unrelated but is anyone else experiencing data issues? Like sometimes my phone wont transmit data over the network and sometimes ill be connected to wifi and it will say the connection is good but wont send or receive anything. As far as the wifi goes I know the router is good because I have other devices connected to it. But its really starting to aggravate me so much so that I'm debating going back to my incredible

It only takes like a minute at most... when its done you'll get a message saying its been rooted.

If you think its rooted but you're not sure you can always type su in a terminal and see if you get a #.

Charge your battery up first just to be safe. Its understandable to be concerned, but the risk is minimal. I would go ahead and root. Of course make sure you make an informed decision. Use these forums to get all the info you need. I'm around a lot and am even willing to call you if you need further help. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
