Headphones not working after ics upgrade. Upgraded to ics about 3 weeks ago - like it a lot, but ... just tried my headphones on to listen to some music and discovered headphones not working. Phone speakers work fine and headphone jack has no effect on the phone speaker when it's plugged in. Verizon wanted to try a factory reset but I thought I'd ask the real experts first if there is any other thing to look at.

Only thing I can suggest is to be sure that you don't have a piece of lint or something stuck in the jack. I did and my husband got it out using a fine drill bit and twirling it gently so as to not damage the connections in there.

Yes, I think SallyC was our first expert on this problem. Since her discovery many people with the same problem found that Sally's solution was the fix they needed... with no FDR needed. Actually if it is lint, an FDR won't fix it. Let us know if you are successful or have any more questions.

Wow, that is super! And thank you so much for letting us know that it worked. SallyC has saved a lot of people from getting replacement phones by sharing her discovery of that fix. Awesome!

Thanks for posting back! I can see where if you noticed it after the ICS upgrade it would be easy to think that's it. As Tis said, I thought had a "broken headphone jack" problem and the good folks here helped me realize what was going on.

Amazing how much trouble a little piece of lint can cause!
