Handcent - Better Keyboard problem

I'm having a problem with handcent in landscape mode not showing the text I type in the message text box until I back out and all text shows up as a saved draft. I'm using better keyboard and everything is fine in portrait mode. Any ideas? Non rooted, better home, 2.1
