Have you seen Satrina's Frame in the Buff? (re:SBF)

This is my first ever attempt at starting a new thread. Movers, feel free...

What is an SBF file?? NOT, what is an SBF file for, that can be found easily enough in the stickies.
But just what is it? And what do the letters S. B. F. stand for -- in Android-speak?

It's not for want of searching: Will the real .sbf file please stand up!!?

Among 200 or so others, "AcronymFinder" shows this as a "software" related definition:
SBF - SatrinaBuffFrame (software)
"What does SBF stand for?" --> "SatrinaBuffFrame (software)"

Wikipedia shows over a dozen unrelated entries for ".sbf file extension"

From Google:
Smart Broker file? SBF File Extension - Open .SBF files
Superbase data file? Superbase file .SBF Corrupted or Damaged File Repair for File Type / Extension SBF
Septentrio Binary Format? http://www.septentrio.com/sup/secure/asterx1v_1_0/SBF Reference Guide.pdf [see page 6]

Editing SBF - RootzWiki
"SBF
"You have followed a link to a page that does not exist yet. To create the page, start typing in the box below (see the help page for more info).

I have gleaned that the SBF file used with Android smartphones has to do with using RSDLite to restore a (s)oft-(b)ricked phone (Could THAT be it??!) to factory original specs. And that it is a proprietary manufacturer file that we get access to through "leaks" and the distribution of which may have undesirable legal implications or ramifications (as in, the forums won't post links to them).
Can anyone provide a fuller understanding than that?

More than a "How to.. " use the SBF file,
(because that's already in the stickies)
I'd really like a "What is.." the SBF file explanation.
More than what I should do with it or what it does for me,
I'd like to know how it does what it does and,
in the context of the workings of the OS itself,
just what it is that it does do.
If anyone knows...

Man, wasn't expecting a WoW Addon to be mentioned in a Droid forum. A quick Google net me the answer you want (from http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-general-discussions/68776-sbf-file.html), it stands for "system boot file".

Thank you! That does seem to fit its usage. But nothing like that came up in any of my searches. I'd be interested in knowing what search parameters you used. And did the reference you found go into any detail on its function? A link, if you still have it would be appreciated.

A Dummies Guide to Android Terminology & Lingo

Thanks!! That looks like a good read for this Android noob!

Edit: copied from your reference --> ".sbf: Summation Briefcase File"

There is a lot of good info there but, also, I seem to remember that .apk is "advanced (something?) kit" but the Guide show the "a" as "Android"... Has anyone ever edited that dummy guide?

Now I'm confused again...
