Here's something that is slightly Off Topic, but still tech related...

According to sources in the know, we have a few more details regarding the teased HBO streaming movie service confirmed previously. The new service will reportedly be called HBO Now and will use new technology to make sure that people don't experience hiccups and outages while binge watching Game of Thrones.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, the source also confirmed that HBO plans to launch the service at the same time that the new Game of Thrones season 5 hits. This simply confirms previous intel on the subject. Another confirmation of previous rumors suggests the stand-alone (no cable required) service will be $15 dollars per month.

The only other new thing to report is that Apple is supposedly heavily courting HBO to work out a deal where they can offer the HBO Now service on the Apple TV. Supposedly, HBO is keen on the idea, but they also want to offer the service on as many other TV boxes as possible including: Roku, Xbox, Amazon and PlayStation.

Ohhhh... so many ways to fire up Game of Thrones for a weekend!!! April 12th cannot come fast enough!

How does this differ from HBO GO? Or is it just a rebranding?

You don't need a cable subscription. So for cord cutters who want HBO they can pay $15 per month to stream it.

If this pans out, I'm all over it. $15 per month for the entire HBO library, and I don't have to have a cable subscription? Take my money!

Been waiting for this but that price point is a little high. I was hoping it would be closer to 8-10 a month, 15 is pushing it. It now boils down to "back episodes" for me. Will this simply be live programming or will the whole catalog of past episodes be included? There are currently only 2 HBO shows we watch, Game of Thrones & True Blood. GOT we purchase the BluRay set each season. (you just can't beat this show in HD....yes, it's that good) and TB we like to binge via Netflix. So $15 a month would be pointless (for us personally) without back episode availability.

I've got one week left of my SlingTV trial and I won't be continuing my subscription, it's just not worth $20 bucks a month imo.

Funny how that works out....you cut the cord to save some money and between Prime, Netflix, Sling & HBO Now, (and any extras like VuDu) you may as well keep your cable/satellite subscription. [emoji16]

That's what I've been saying. I'm keeping my SlingTV subscription with the hopes that AMC gets aboard sooner rather than later.
I got the 3 months pay up front, to get the free Fire Stick.
