Headphones Settings?

I recently got a pair of skullcandy headphones that have an in line microphone and a button for playing and pausing music. The problem is, I use PowerAmp and not the stock music player. Sometimes when I press the button while listening to a song on PowerAmp, it starts playing a song from the stock player. Is there any way to disable the controls for the stock music player?
