Hello from a Motorola Droid user

I have been using Motorola Droid phone from day one and really love the phone. Recently I were given a Motorola Droid 2 Global however the software is old, "Version.1.6.2.A956.Verizon.en.US", I think.
I need help to get the uptodate software of the phone.
I really enjoy reading posts at this forum. There are too many things that you can do with the Droid that I did not know.
The holiday season is coming so HAPPY HOLIDAY to everyone at the forum.

Welcome! Good to have you with us. I'm not sure how to advise on getting a more recent version of the OS. I would have thought that it would automatically be pushed to the phone. Have you tired to update the phone *228?

Welcome to the forum. I second what Mike said. You may have to do *228 then option 1 (that is to program) your phone and see if that doesn't get you the updates you need.

I tried the *228 and also used the "system update" and both indicated my device is "up to date".
I hope someone will come up with the Rom flash for this soon

I found a "Droid 2 Global Stock Rom" from Team DeFuse - Bringing you the FIRST Android Vanilla ROM to Droid2 and DroidX!
I root my phone with z4root.
I bought "Bootstrap" program for Droid 2 (I did not see one for Droid 2 Global) from Market.
I opened "bootstrap" tapped on "Bootstrap Recovery" and grand SU permission to the application.
The probelm came when I tried to run "Rebbot Recovery" the phone hang up the the Motorola logo (M).
Please let me know if there is otherway to install the ROM.
