Hi all, I joined this forum with the intent of learning how to root my Eris, and ultimately, DOING IT!! dancedroid I need to learn more about the "how", you guys use words I don't understand! (Like, what's a kernel?!?) I know the basics of what I'm doing, I know I need to make a backup for the phones OS somewhere, then format it or something. Then download and install a new OS. I think that's how it works anyway. I did a little poking around and I didn't see anything like "the idiot's guide to rooting" so if anyone has any insight, I'm all ears! Thanks in advance!

Thanks! So I went with the "one click root" From XDA and it did the trick!! So easy! Now I have to do some tinkering, have to remember where I read how to do the nandbackup thing so I can flash 2.2 without having a heart attack...dancedroid
