I need to get to ICS because there's an app I need for work and it only runs on ICS or higher. The phone is rooted but I'm having issues with debloating. Is there a solid downloadable program out there? THx

Welcome to the forum Tom! Typically you can do one of two things depending on your device....Flash an already debloated rom, or debloat yourself by freezing/deleting said apps via Titanium backup.
If you're still on Gingerbread that means you have a pretty old device (by smartphone standards) so it may be difficult to find valid/updated files for your device. That said, XDA may still have active links for the files you need.
Let us know the make/model phone, who your carrier is, what root method you used, and what rom you're currently running and we can go from there.

That looks pretty cut and dry, but as you can see the files you need are no longer available. I was afraid this is going to a problem. You might do a search for your device on the XDA sub forums. If anyone would have the files you need it would be them.

My point about XDA wasn't that they don't let newbies post, but rather that they go absolutely berserk over what *they* consider dumb questions or questions posted in the wrong thread. Just watch yourself if you post over there, they are not a forgiving bunch of guys.

You mean the geeks have established their own level of intolerance? I've never used that word to refer to someone and have enough security in myself that I don't have denigrate anyone in order to validate myself. One learns by asking questions; maybe at some point in their lives they had to ask too. Utopian we are not.

Welcome to the site Tom. Hope cr6's recommendation helped. Good to see you don't need to be an expert to ask a question on DroidForums.

Welcome to the forums Tom, make sure you'll check out the Off-topic section for a nice talk ;)
