Use Z4root to obtain temporary root. Then again z4root to unroot. (Unrooting deletes the busybox binary, the su binary and the superuser.apk app from /system/app.

Don't panic, be patient - try again. If it stays at "running exploit" for more than 5 mins, stop it and start again. Make sure phone is not connected to USB cable and USB debugging is enabled in settings.

I'd just say "superuser? So I'm not super?" Side note: can you install superuser.apk without root?

Superuser.apk gets installed in /system/app, which for normal users is a read-only directory. Having custom files in /system/apk is a 100% evidence phone has been rooted. VZ tech's know this very well. Returning it with this on the phone is like being caught by police with a smoking gun on the crime scene :)

I got it root with old manual way. Ok how do I get it ready to send back???

Which unroot method are you using? Option 2d in the multiple phones link in my sig should get you where you need to be.
