Help cant update install or uninstall apps

Help, I cant update, uninstall, install apps. when i go under application info to clear data and clear cache all lines say computing when i click clear data it says recomputing but cant get the clear cache button to work on any apps, have waited for up to 30 minutes. Phone is slightly messed up since clicked to update all apps and set phone down and picked up phone in the am. I have Apps missing that i did not uninstall. I see them in "gotoapp" but cant use them. in app menu they are not there. some how fixed problem one day after clearing cache and data in market app and forcing off a number of other Android processes, it worked fine for @ 8 hours then next day same thing but i cant fix now. what can i try what should i do.
