HELP! Droid screen went out.

Ok so my moto droids screen went out today after i accidently i guessed banged it on a chair swingen it around me. Well I have insurance so I’m not worried about that what I am worried about is I had my phone rooted to the froyo update an I’m worried if I go to vzw with the phone they send it to moto to be refurbed they start it an see that I was indeed rooted so my warranty wouldn’t count an id be billed full price. So any help?

What is the worst that could happen? They make you pay for a new one cause you rooted? Or you sit here with a broken phone because you acted like a moron, no offence.

Wat I meant when I said swingen around me was I pulled it out my pocket an swung it up to look at ...anyway. good news, I got the screen too come back I'm on it now as a matter of fact. =)

you could always restore it back to stock using RSD Lite. This can be done without the need for the screen to be on.

then take it in


the other option is to use something called "Android Screen Cast" it will display your android homescreen on your computer and you can use that to restore to stock 2.1.

just so you know using screencast is slow and laggy but its not un-usable.

you dont have to install anything on the phone to use it... it all works through ADB

If that happens again and you can't get the screen to come on I would just take and basically throw it on the ground and bust it so that you can take it in and get a new one without VZW having the ability to turn it on. That's my backup plan at least

I think what his point was that you're not being honest. You rooted the phone and voided the warranty and you knew it...

If the crack is in the screen and not on the glass, you may be able to get away with a warranty replacement. Just tell them it stopped working out of the blue and they will replace it for no charge, usually in-store if they have the model in stock (as long as the break is not visible.) Also, they will not do anything if it's rooted, those people at the assembly lines fixing the phones don't have time to be checking software and roms. You'll be fine.

Worst case scenario, if the break is visible, just go through insurance and pay the $90 to replace it.
