Help removing Google account

I currently have a DROID Bionic and I gave my son a HTC Rezound for his birthday today. I wanted the phone to have a few apps and a few tweaks so I signed in with my Google account and went to the Play Store. After he opened it and added his Google account I was unable to remove mine. I have done a few Google searches and I can't figure it out unless I do a factory reset. Is that really the only way to do it?

You tried the account and sync section? And factory reset will do it.
Edit just looked through it. Go into accounts and sync. Click on the Google account. Hit the menu(4 square) button. And the option to remove account should be there.

I really didn't want to factory reset the phone because there are paid appear tied to my play store account. Is there a way to move them over to his account after a factory reset?

Edited last post didn't see that you posted. And idk how that would work. If you could save the file. Most games are cheap enough I wouldn't mind buying it again.
