A week ago, my Droid (original) started dropping calls, then the phone stopped altogether. I get an error message of "Mobile network not available" but WiFi works. I told the VZN people about the bootloader screen that came up when powered on. VZN phone support level 3 had me reset the phone then attempt to *228... still does not work. I tried *#*#4636#*#* and turned radio on and off. CDMA set to auto (PRL) and SMSC is blank. Tried ping test. Still no phone. Next, I have set to airplane mode, pulled battery, waited 15 min, turned off airplane mode... Still no phone. I have since turned on my old Voyager to get a working phone but want my Droid back. Droid works as an internet device right now and nothing more. Any ideas? Can VZN/Motorola kill the cell radio? New battery. No difference with or without SD memory (tried both old and new SD). Any thing else I can try?

My guess is hardware. The radio sounds like it is dieing off.

You are probably right, but he might as well sbf before. He will need that done if he is going to send it back anyway.
