Help with switching from iPhone (AT&T)

I have been using both the iPhone and the Droid for awhile now and the probationary period for AT&T has expired (they failed), so I need to get some assistance in switching from an AT&T number back to my old Verizon number. I considered calling AT&T for this assistance but am sure that they would point me wrong either to keep me subscribed or punish me for leaving. Thus I am looking to you folks for assistance if you are willing to offer it.

Did you maintain your verizon phone number this whole time, or did you let it lapse?

Reason being, if you let it lapse, it's gone. If you didn't, then just call Verizon for help and you should be fine.

AT&T can't help you send a phone # to someone else; you have to contact who you're going to, and they port it from who you're coming from.
