Hey, obviously I'm new here. I just got my Droid X last week, so I've had a little while to play with it, and I have a few questions.
1. Rooting? What does it do? What are the pros and cons of doing this?
2. New 2.3 Update? I know its not the "Gingerbread", my phone came with 2.2 installed and it won't allow me to do the 2.3 update(keeps telling me my "device is up to date"). Is there any way to "force" this update? Or would I just be better off waiting for the official "Gingerbread" update.
3. Removing the "Bloatware", ie. Blockbuster, Amazon MP3, Kindle? I cannot find a way of doing this, short of "Rooting" the phone.
I'm new to Smartphones, and the Android OS, I don't really know what these things are fully capable of doing yet. Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again! dancedroid
