When the phone is powered off and you hold the volume up, volume down and power button down a hidden menu of options come up what do each of those options do exactly (with the exception of recovery)?

U just discovered the phone's stock recovery system, this allows you to wipe/cache or factory reset your phone, if you encounter problems. Which is minimal if your not flashing Roms, or editing build.props on ur phone.

sent frm my Rooted DROID4 on ICS

The other options are to set the phone up to communicate with external software for the purpose of writing to the phone directly. The only thing we can use this for is to flash stock images in the event that we need to restore it to factory programmed settings. If you ever brick your phone, you will use this.

so that AP SBF Reboot setting means that the SBF file is already on the phone so if you brick your phone our just want to revert back to the latest ota (in this case 2.3.6) after you install a leak you just select that setting and the phone does it automatically?

No, it means it puts the phone into a state that allows you to flash from your PC signed .img files from Motorola. You still can not go from a leak ICS to Gingerbread (stock).

when I described the SBF setting I said it was "AP" but after taking a second look it is "BP" what is the difference between the two?
