hiding dock icons?

I am new to the droid (just got this a few days ago, sold my iphone for it) and this keeps bothering me: I ike using the slide out dock to access the apps I use a lot, but now that I have lots of apps I have to scroll through to find anything. The ones I use less often I've put into folders on the home screen but is it possible to hide icons in the dock and leave them accessible through my folders? Thanks in advance.

There is no way to remove apps from the app drawer where all the apps are held. If you create folders on your home screen with the most used you can just look in there without scrolling through the whole list.

the only way to do this, that i know of, is with the home replacement app "pandahome". it has a hide app feature

dxTop also lets you hide icons and you can create "categories" in the dock to organize the apps. I think this is a cleaner look than folders on the desktop.
