Home replacements

Is ahome really worth getting? What are the best alternatives? Should I just stick with the original? What are the advantages of these apps, and what are the cons? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm curious. Will these apps just mess up my phone?

IMHO, HTC's SenseUI is plenty sexy The various 3rd-party home apps are for those poor souls who must suffer with plain vanilla Android.
