How can I get droid x video to run on tv??

I connected the hdmi cable from my tv to the droid x. Tried to play the video i created on the dx but I get no response. The tv screen is blank but seems to "blink" when I press play on the droid x & the tv gives me a message "not supported mode".

What am I doing wrong, here?
