How can you delete the contacts history?

Can anyone tell me how to delete contact history. It get so long and takes up alot of memory.

You can't do it from what I'm reading. Needs to be a fix made for that. Is this possible with root perhaps?

The root might help atleast it should..correct if everbody talks about this problem there should be a fix on its way
