How-D Folks, new lurker here

Just converted from the BB Storm 2 to a Droid 2 but I have a delima.

The main reason I left the BB was b/c typing on it was too difficult and i figured I would get the D2 so I could have the keyboard and more importantly, wifi tethering. But since having it now for about 6 days I never use the slide keyboard. Typing is so much easier and faster on the screen and a pure joy after coming from the storm 2 BB.

I also used Z4Root and rooted the phone but now thinking of swapping the phone out to something that doesn't have a keyboard.

I never really researched any of the Android phones just saw the keyboard and said, "I'll take that one"

Now that I have my arms around this thing...should I use my 30 return policy and pick up something different? If so, which one? (Verizon)

Lastly, do I un root the phone then remove the app? Then factory reset the phone? I have no problem setting up mail again etc...no big deal but if I swap, I have to have a phone that can be rooted so I can get the wifi tether again.

Sorry for the long first post, this forum has been so much help to me before I registered. Hopefully I can contribute to a new Droid user in the future and I have been on BB's for 6 years.

Cheers

I would strongly suggest the dx for your needs and yes unrooting and doing a factory reset should cover it. Just make sure its fully unrooted.

Where are my manners. Indeed, welcome to the forums. My mother would be so disappointed.

Thanks for the quick response...I don't mind the keyboard just won't use it and sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. As for the X I did look at it but the form factor was too big at least I thought. Dunno. I got some thinking to do.

I say go and play with it a little. I rely more and more on the virtual kb these days as its to cold for me to use the physical one outside these days. Also there is a lot more to offer in the way of a development community for the dx which will come in handy if you plan on flashing roms or themes.

Dx is the way to go. Devs picked it up quick and are running the distance it seems. I kept my d2 out of stubborness but I love it. Hopefully we get a few more on this dark side soon.

I have owned the DX D2 and now the D2G but I like the keyboard for faster responses and its great for emulators but if u like the virtual keyboard the x is great, I switch for the D2G cuz I like the fast responses

Um bout the same, they accommodate for the screen size with a 1540 mah battery vs a 1390/1420

Hey thanks...!

Dumb question but I read here in my numerous searches that someone stated you have to think about when the Dev's will stop supporting the D2...is that really a problem for this phone to consider?
