How Do I change the 4 buttons at the bottom of my Droid X

The buttons at the bottom of my Droid X changed, ( I do not know how), but now the home and return buttons change the volume and the search button at the right goes to settings. The left settings button still goes to settings like before. I want it like it was out of the box. How do I change them back

That's odd. Have you tried rebooting the phone?

oh yeah! so many times. pulled the battery also.

Are you rooted? Have you messed with anything lately? Its possible it is a hardware deffect or somehow caused by fall /water damage, or it could be a software issue and you might fix it by sbfing.
