How do I get the Location icon off?

Just got the Dinc2 set up today, but can't figure out how to get the little Location or GPS icon off my bar. I turned the 3 Location settings off, and even GPS off, and it's always there. I guess it's no big deal but it takes up an extra space that I don't want.

Are you rooted?? there are some mods that people have made on xda that remove the GPS locator for roms like the virtuous unity rom

I just wish the whole notification bar was more configurable in the stock state. I don't like having the clock up there either. I have the time on my lockscreen, the big ass HTC widget on my home screen... I don't need it there, too.
These phones are so customizable stock, except for that whole area....
