How do I remove stock ringtones?

I want to remove ringtones from my droid1,I have multiple ringtones that I will never use. Some of them are doubles and triples of the same thing. I searched the forums and can't find any info on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You would have to be rooted and then you would find them in system/media and then either /ringtones or /notifications

I am rooted. And did that,all I was able to do was delete the ringtones that was on my phone prior to rooting. I have multiple ringtones from other roms in ringtone settings, a hudge amount and have no way of deleting them. How do I get rid of those?

If you have root explorer then you can mount the system as rw and delete all the additional files from system/media

Have root explorer and went to system,after I made sure it was rw and found media,hit that it brought up all ringtones prior th rooting. Nothing on recent ringtones. That's what I want to get rid of, that's where I have all the multiple tones in.

Hmmm interesting. And they're ringtones from roms you said? That means they're being saved to another location. Did you check sdcard/media/ringtones?

Yep I did but not quite sure what they say they are in a format that I can't read. Data type and not sure what it means, in otherwords its greek to me. Lol and so I afraid that I might mess up and delete something very critical to my phone.
