How do I revert back to stock OS?

Hey everyone, I was wondering how I would go about reverting back to the stock OS. I have to return my current droid to verizon as I have a like new replacement. (BTW) it looks beat up but i have to take it at this point. I am new to the droid so any instruction would be helpful.

Guys thanks for the replies but I am so new to droid, i dont know what any of this stuff means. I am so worried im gonna brick this thing and get charged by verizon. Can I just leave the update OS on the phone to return it.

why do you want to return it? is it defective or do you just not like it or do you wan to get a new one to be back to stock?

I asked the same question this morning, sticktly for informational use and I think link, mwhartman mention is the easiest. In this link, it tells you want to do if you DO brick your phone so you should be safe with that one.

I have to replace my current droid because of a really loose screen so I think I need to put the stock back on it. I dont understand any of the lingo being used on either of these though....

If you are talking about the 2.1 update that you recieved, you can leave that on the phone. From the sounds of it you are not rooted and have nothing to worry about.

Now I'm confused. Since the info provided does not make sense my sense is that I mistakenly thought you had rooted. Now, however, I'm thinking you did not root your phone so what exactly did you do that would not allow you to return toe VZW as is?

Ralph, I dont know if I am doing this right? Do I follow all of those instructions? I dont see a nandroid folder on my sd card at all?

Martin, did you root your phone? If not, there should not be a Nandroid folder on your SD card.

MWhartman,
I am really not even sure what rooted means at this point. All i did was follow instructions to force the update to 2.1.
