How do you retrieve from trash?

I am a droid virgin and I inadvertently put all my phone contacts in the trash. (I know...I'm a dork, right?) Is there a way to retrieve them or must I enter them all again?

Go to your contacts and menu button then import export. Select from SD card, they probably are still on there. And be more careful the next time.
