how do you send a call to voicemail?

Appologies if this is already answered somewhere but my search has not yeilded any answers.

How do you send an incoming call to voicemail if you don't want to answer it? I keep hitting the red 'hangup' icon but nothing happens.....

do you slide the red icon over to the left? thats how you ignore the call and send it to voicemail, just how you unlock the phone.

I believe you can also hold the volume rocker (either up or down) to send a call to voicemail if its in your pocket and vibrating. I think tapping the volume rocker will silence a ringing call and holding it will ignore and send to VM.
