How does AllShare work?

I see there's an App called "AllShare" that's supposed to allow me take video and other content from my Fascinate and play it on my TV. But how do I get the app to work? (AKA how do I get the device to recognize my TV's existence and then begin playing the content that's on my phone?)

Is this a work-in-progress that's supposed to kick in with the 2.2 update or is it possible to get it working now?

Your TV has to be an Samsung TV that is ALLshare ready.

I use that with my ps3 all the time just start the app connect to the same router as your ps3 and enjoy if you have a ps3 of course.

I have the Samsung Fascinate android phone I have had since fall 2010. I have a laptop pc running Vista 64bit. The allshare app came standard equip on phone. I just opened Win Media "Center" on PC and went thru the settings setting up sharing media folders and files. Then I opened Win Media "Player" and verified settings for sharing. My PC and phone were both on same WLAN network. And then I tried the allshare app out for a test drive. It was cool! I was exploring thru file structures, files, photos, videos etc., located on my PC but doing it on my cell phone. When I wanted to move a file that I was looking at to my SD card on the phone, I just checked it on the phone and touched download. Wow! If my TV was only a wifi compatible unit , Allshare could do even more... COOL!

I think as long as your TV has DLNA capability and internet ready, you (may) be able to do some kind of communication between your TV and your allshare app on your phone (((my Vista laptop doesnt have Allshare and it worked with it)))

I'm having issues using allshare between my droid 2 and my samsung tv with allshare. I have allshare on the tv, and have a cat5e conected, but no link is established.....
Do I have to have the wireless USB installed to make it work instead of just the cat 5?
Or do I not have the phone set up properly? tried all sorts of programs on phone claiming to share, and they do with a computer......not with TV.
Thanks in advance,
Doug
