Hey everyone,

I recently have had some trouble with my gmail account and Google has decided to lock me out of my account. After almost a week of getting nowhere and being unable to access my account, I discovered a Google help page that said I need to not try to log into my account for 24 hrs before I can reset the password.

At about 9pm EST last night I turned off the Gmail synching in the settings of my Droid X. However, shortly after that, I received the same alert "Unable to access gmail account" in the alerts page of the Droid, which means it's still trying to log in, which means I still won't be able to access my account.

I'm waiting until 9pm before trying to log in, just in case it worked, but I doubt it did.

The only way to delete a Google account from my phone is to restore it to factory settings, which I don't want to do.

What do you all recommend? I can leave the phone off for 24 hrs if I have to, but that's not the ideal solution.

Do you think that turning off the synching worked?

Thanks,

FA

Yes, turning off the syncing should work unless...

you manually go in and sync
you have a widget or app that is still trying to log in
you left on sync for gmail, calendar, contacts running, picasa?, youtube?, etc.

You know what sucks, these new "enter text to sign on" popups that seemed to have just appeared in 2.2

I don't know why they are doing this crap

the only surefire way to make sure its gone: root your phone and delete gmail.apk from /system/app :D
