So, my weekend began with my droid incredible falling and shattering it's screen.

When I plug the phone into my computer via USB, the phone's disk drive mounts and I can see all it's contents. However, I have no idea how to extract the contacts or SMS text messages I have on the phone.

I tried BitPim, but I can't seem to get that to work. I've also logged into google.com/contacts and the only information I have stored there is people's email addresses, NOT their phone numbers.

My friend gave me his old LG VX8700 flip phone as a temporary replacement and I'm just trying to figure out how to get the data off my incredible to put onto this phone. I was assuming I could extract the data via USB with my droid incredible and place them on the LG via bluetooth and BitPim.

I can't seem to find anything online about this-

Your contacts should be backed up to your gMail account. Simply log into that on your PC and you can get your contacts from there.

I tried that. All of the contacts are just email addresses. None of them have phone number data attached to them.

I dunno what then.

You have to have a gMail account to activate an Android device.... your contacts by default are sync'd to your gMail account. All my contacts are in my gMail. (under the contacts tab on the upper left corner of the gMail screen)

All contacts w/ numbers are there. Unless for some reason you didn't have sync turned on to your gMail account on your device.

two options, 1 pull the memery card and see if you see a .vcf file, that will have them on there and any android device can extract or

we might be able to pull them with the Cellbright machine at a store.

the store probably could.
but ive done this, and it works. buy a video to tv cable. then plug it in and it will show up on your tv and you can do what you need to do. this does require the touch screen to recognize your hand though, and idk how bad your screen is broken.
once you can see your screen you can do alot of things: copy them by hand, send them as vlf (vlc, vcard, whatever its called), attach the numbers to your gmail contacts. but it should work. then if it works you can return the cord within 30 days and get a full refund.
good luck

I went to the Verizon store. Not only did they tell me that they now charged $20 to get data off phones...they also told me that they couldn't get anything off my phone because they needed my screen to work in order for them to go into the system and send stuff over.

TKtouch12, your method sounds valid. My only concern is whether or not the touch screen works. Last time I tried it sometimes did and sometimes didn't.

As for Gmail. I have 3 gmail addresses on my incredible. I logged into each one and checked contacts and none of them had any phone numbers attached to them.

Again, the phone mounts to my computer and I can see the drive, as well as the drive for the mini-SD card inside...it's baffling to me, that there's no method of being able to extract the SMS and contact info off those drives considering they do mount. I just don't see a .csv or .vcf files there. I'm guessing that the droid system has them hidden or some other type of file system for it.

if there is not vcf file then it was origanly done with the HTC sync when it was first transfered by the cellbrite

now its a 50/50 shot that the cellbrite would work

for one it has to connect in usb mode, which it does and then usb debugging has to be on and so does stay awake.

now, when i say it should work, im hoping that when they orignaly transfered the stuff, they were to lasy to shut those two features off.

as long as those three things are one, which btw you have 1 of the three, the cellbrite will pull them, the least they can do is try and then if it works maybe charge you, if not look for a preimum retailer, they usally charge $10

It's not necessarily set to automatically sync to Gmail, but to whatever account you set it up with. For me it is default sync'd to my Yahoo Mail account. In any case did you try the HTC sync program thing?
