How to get texts only from contacts?

Last hour, I started getting texts about one minute intervals about visa debit cards, which I don't have or need. Spam.

No real name or number, but numbers and letters xfg67ruu@
Each one different set of numbers and letters.

Guy Verizon to block my texts until I call back.

How can I set my phone to receive texts only from contacts.

I don't an app will help add each text is from a different set of numbers and letters, i.e. different source.

Or, if anyone has run into this and had a solution, I would appreciate any help.

I don't have a solution, but I did start getting the same thing yesterday....at least I know it'd not just my phone. I had never received a spam text in 17 years with Verizon until yesterday.

Have you tried any of the third-party sms apps? I feel like one (at least) of them offered the ability to filter. I could be wrong though.
