How to re-install Talk/GTalk/Google Talk?

Yikes!

My Verizon DROID came with Talk (gtalk, Google Talk) installed, but it has disappeared. I've looked in my applications for Talk, gtalk, and google talk, with no luck. I know I saw the icon before.

I may have un-installed it by accident. How do I re-install Talk?

And which other programs if any use gtalk?

Thanks!

:welcome: PF! We're very happy to have you here:D

i don't know how you could lose gtalk i thought it came stock on the droid. maybe it'll reappear if you reboot:icon_eek: Meebo IM supports google talk and it's free in the market :D

Got it!

I swear I looked, and it was gone. I looked several times , and could not find it. I then connected my Droid to my PC and then it was back again. I know that when the usb cord is connected, the Droid is debugging. So I'm guessing some software I downloaded wiped it (and my home screen icons), and that the debugging put it back.

Which brings me to my next issue: How to get rid of installed programs I don't want? It's a rhetorical question, since I already know the answer: it's not possible. But I hear there's an update coming up.

Thanks for your answer anyway.

as far as i know there is no update coming (nor ever will be) to delete "native" apps and features. In my opinion i wouldn't delete them anyway. Its just like buying aftermarket parts for a car, there comes a time when you need to go back to stock and you cant do that if you got rid of all your stock parts. Making it difficult to have to find the parts and reinstall them and possibly pay good amounts of money to do so.

So conclusion i came to with my phone and my car : KEEP STOCK PARTS

If you root your phone you can delete apps you don't want. Also if you lose the google talk app, your gmail won't function properly for some reason. I had deleted it at one point because I never used it, and realized that with it deleted GMail did not update whatsoever. I could get emails if I hit the refresh, but it didn't push them to my phone automatically without that app installed. As soon as I re-installed it, GMail has worked flawlessly since.

The Only way to do that is by rooting your phone
