I have the same issue and would like to get help as well on how to leave Gingerbread on my Droid X and get back to 2.2.1 When I switched over I DID creat a backup. Now how do I use it to get back?? Thanks.,

Thanks. I did the following.........
Instructions:

  • Install RSD_Lite
  • Boot your phone into the bootloader using the previous instructions (Hold Down + Camera Button while holding power)
  • Connect phone to computer using USB Cable
  • Open RSD_Lite (you must run as admin for it to work, 4.8 automatically runs as admin I believe)
  • Click the “...” button and select the .sbf file you placed on your desktop
  • Click start to begin the flashing process after you've confirmed your device and .sbf file with RSD_Lite (sometimes changing the Device ID helps RSD_Lite find the device)
Then I did a complete Data Reset and now am waiting for my phone to sign in to google now. Did I miss anything and now will I get the auto update to GB when it gets launched by Verizon?

You should be all set and completely back to stock

I believe you will get a Verizon request to update to gingerbread directly to your phone once gingerbread is officially released. Accepting the update will put you back to a unrooted condition. This is of course if my memory serves me correctly. I know for sure when I had my original droid rooted and romed update requests came to my phone until I either refused it for about 100 times (jk) or accepted it.

theres actually a video on youtube..just type in "droid x sbf" and this dude gives you VERY detailed instructions..i actually had one quick question, i got my new droid x today from verizon, my old one is back to stock and all that mess, but when i turned my new one on and got it up and running, the market only downloaded the apps i purchased, i probably had 130 apps and only 15-20 paid ones, this isnt a huge deal or anything, just wondering out of curoisity it only downloaded the paid apps..
and btw my new droid x is SEXY, fresh out of the boxdancedroid
