How to revert back to stock setting from a rom without using backup and restore.

Currently, I am running rubix 1.9.7 rom on my droid x. I like the rom but feel a little bit uncomfortable and want to be able to revert back to stock 2.1 or the setting fresh out the box. My issue is, I forgot to backup my original settings. Is it possible to download the stock rom or replace it somehow? If so, could someone shine some light on this?

go here and download the update.zip and put it on the root of your sd card

reboot into clockwork and select install .zip from sdcard, choose zip from sd card, then select this file. it will completely wipe your phone and bring you back to stock. be patient as it can take over 10 minutes to fully install. if you interrupt the process you'll be bricked. after it is done, reboot.

You wont ever be able to go back to stock 2.1, 2.2 is very easy with the maderstock.zip (not sure with spelling) but if that is a 2.1 update.zip it will quite possibly brick your phone

Edit : that will bring you back to stock 2.2

You have all done a wonderful job beating Verizon on the 2.3.340 update. Instructions from Maderstcok to 928 deodex update to z4 to Bootstrapper and to RSD Lite have proven that the forums are serious and high level sources of help. All the solutions proposed had led me to tantalizingly close to restoring "stock", so I knew you were for real. To make a month+ long story short, the poster who first released the official VZW 2.3.340 Zip with suggestion to use RSD Lite 4.9 was spot on. Worked like a charm. (I understand that some posters had difficulty with RSD recognizing their device).
Why does VZW threated to void the warranty if phone is hacked when such a simple solution could be on their site or given out in their stores? What is the big deal? Co-branding revenue, probably. Or did they consent to release the file to the Droid forums when they saw how close you all were to solving the update issues?
I no longer fear bricking my phone (or am I deluded?) with people like you working round the clock.

ok so since this is the closest thread that i can find and it seems the OP had the same Idea I had, I want to be able to basically wipe my phone and restore it to fresh out of the box stock so that I can sell it to someone else... and never though to save backups; will applying the maderstock to the phone completely remove all the other software that I have installed such as the clockwork mod and revert it back to out of the box "stock" as it was before I started hacking it? any help appreciated..
