For those of us that purchased the consumer variant of the Galaxy S5 from Verizon early on it can be pretty sickening to see just how easy it is to Root the developer edition variant of the same device. There is no eta on a root method for the consumer model but with an unlocked bootloader the Dev Edition Galaxy S5 can be rooted in minutes. The method is pretty simple.
-Be sure Usb drivers are installed (plug phone to pc and they should install automagically)
-Grab Odin 3.07
-Grab the tar version of TWRP
-Grab the zip of SuperSU
-Boot phone into Download mode (from powered off state hold menu and volume down while powering up)
-Open Odin, be sure phone is connected to PC and is detected by Odin, click PDA button and select the TWRP file from above
-check the "auto reboot box" and the "F. reset time" box
-click start phone will reboot when finished
-power off phone and reboot to recovery by holding menu and volume up while powering on phone
-Install the SuperSU zip
-Profit!
